About Des Moines, Washington
Located on the eastern shore of Puget Sound, Des Moines is midway between Seattle and Tacoma on the I-5 corridor. The town features many parks sprinkled throughout the suburban neighborhoods and beach access in several areas.The city's main attraction is a well developed marina and adjacent park area which features a fishing pier and a picturesque strolling area for pedestrians.
The city climate is kept fairly stable year around due to the proximity of Puget Sound. Temperatures fall to freezing only a few days a year and rarely exceed 90 degrees. There is typically a pleasant onshore breeze.
Views of the Puget sound, the Olympic Mountain range and Mt. Rainier are accessible from many locations.
The Des Moines City Government prides itself for it's support for the business community. There are still many properties available for development. Transportation access is very good due the existence of Hwy 99 and close access to Interstate 5. A regional fiber-optic cable system backbone runs right through town. Most of the cit's businesses are clustered along Marine View Drive South in the city center and on Hwy 99 (Pacific Highway).
Des Moines neighborhoods offer a wide variety of price ranges from apartments to waterfront mansions.
